From the old Firenze, practically only the structure was preserved. Everything else was remade according to the most advanced concepts of building standards. From hydraulic systems to gas pipes, from fire prevention and extinguishing systems to the electrical system, from information and telecom systems to the garage, all was reconstructed from zero. The order was to bring and incorporate the most advanced systems. For example, the air conditioning came from Japan : for the first time in a Brazilian hotel the VRV system -Variable Refrigeration Volume is being used. Which, for the guest, means total temperature control and a completely silent operation. In all, the works took longer than two years and culminated with the public opening at the end of 1999. ACCOMMODATION: The Pergamon has 123 rooms located between the second and eighteenth floors. At each one of these standard floors, there are seven rooms. Those finishing with odd numbers ( 1, 3, 5 and 7 ) are oriented to Frei Caneca street, southeast face. Those of even numbers ( 2, 4, and 6 ) are oriented to Augusta street, northwest face. Each floor is served by three elevators and two access stairs.

HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES: On the ground floor, there is a reception, lobby, a support room for the convention rooms, A telecom and computer's room, a back office, men's and ladies toilets, one of them specially designed for disabled people. Also, a bar and restaurant which has two more toilets. Three convention rooms are also located in this floor. At the first floor, there are five apartments with double function: lodging and/or administrative or conventions support. At the nineteenth floor, two more convention rooms can be found. At the first underground floor, a fully equipped gym, to be opened soon. And in both underground floors, garages and administrative and support areas. In total, the Pergamon's constructed area totals 7.590, 57 square meters or 81.704,14 square feet.
